Street Cred: Milwaukee, July 21, 1972 t-shirt

$19.99

A reminder: There was a time when the legality of what comedians said onstage could lead to arrest. This shirt is an homage to the time when another of our biggest heroes was arrested for obscenity after a performance at Milwaukee, Wisconsin's. epic Summerfest event in July of 1972. This was after performing his landmark routine, "Seven Words You Can't Say on Television." Charges were dropped that December, but the story made front-page news and garnered our hero a great deal of publicity. Judge Raymond E. Gieringer from Adams County presided and dismissed the case, saying the language was indecent but fit within the framework of free speech and didn't lead to a disturbance at the show.

Green shirt with white line art. Designed by Blake Himsl Hunter.
